Cairns hostel guide
Clean, modern and central (☕ + 🔑)
If you value cleanliness, central location, a great kitchen, and a more modern and "put together" look, Global Backpackers is yours, and many others backpackers' first choice, so book while it's still available.
The only con is that they don't serve breakfast. If you want breakfast to be included, keep scrolling!
While they don't have their own pool, the cairns Lagoon is less than 1 minute away!
Breakfast included (🥣+🏊♀️)
Mad Monkey Backpackers Village has more modern bunk beds, and while it is not a central location, you can easily walk to the city centre and Cairns shopping centre in 10-15 minutes. They also have a simple breakfast and a pool. This hostel had a very clean kitchen while I stayed there.
Central location and free breakfast (🥣+🔑)
Another one from Mad Monkey is Mad Monkey Waterfront. Amazing central location right next to the water and lagoon. There's no giant entrance for this hostel though, so you might miss it when trying to find it!
This hostel is also super close to the Cairns lagoon where you can swim or just tan.
A bit outside the city, breakfast included (🥣+☕+ 🏊♀️+🔑)
A bit outside of the city, however Summer House Backpackers has a shuttle to the city centre every 30 minutes. In the morning they have a simple breakfast with toast and cereal. Instant coffee is available for free as well!
Walking distance to the botanic garden!
Party (🏊♀️ + 🔑)
If you are looking for a lively and social hostel, then Gilligan's is a great option. However, if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place to stay, then you may want to consider another hostel. They have lockers in the rooms, but they are quire small and mostly for passports and valuables.
