Caballito

Parque Centenario
@nicki
This is a great circular park in the heart of the Caballito neighborhood. Right in the center of the park is a lake full of wildlife. It's great for taking a stroll or exercise. In the evenings, you can find several exercise classes here like you can find in so many plazas all across the city. On the weekends, there is the feria artesenal which you can find at each entrance. You can find things such as crafts, clothing (new & used), toys, mate supplies, etc. The fair is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-7pm.

Parque Rivadavia
@nicki
This park is on the smaller side when compared to those in Palermo and Puerto Madero. However, it has a lot to offer. A park for kids to play. Lots of green space for lounging, reading, relaxing, drinking mate. And best of all? It has a book fair. On the west side of the park are several book kiosks that open nearly every day, where you can find fantastic deals on books, and then read them in the park.

Chacarita

Los Andes 1 Park
@nicki
On the weekends, you can find an artesanal fair here. It goes all around the park, including the small street between the two park sections. You can find artesanal crafts, as well as used and new clothing, nursing scrubs, tools, sport jerseys, antiques, etc. Because it is right along Avenida Corrientes, you will hear the street traffic, but the benefit is having the subte stop Dorrego right on the corner, making this very easy to reach. If you get tired of perusing the market, go take a rest in the park. There are benches, tables, chairs, and plenty of shade.

Colegiales

Mercado de las Pulgas
@nicki
This is a massive flea market where you can find anything from furniture, to lamps, to paintings. Even if you're not looking for something to buy, it's fun to have a wander through to see what kind of antiques are around!

La Boca

Caminito
@nicki
In the La Boca neighborhood, while you're strolling around looking at the brightly colored buildings, you'll also see a ton of local artists selling their work. The majority of the paintings and mixed media works are of famous Argentine figures, tango dancers, and other famous landmarks in the city. This neighborhood is very touristy, and a little sketchy. Don't wander too far from the main tourist center, and be extremely cautious of your belongings. My phone was stolen in this neighborhood.

Palermo

Plaza Serrano
@nicki
Plaza Serrano is a circle plaza, surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and small shops. There is a market on the weekends. There is also a great sign in the center that says "Palermo," and is a fun place to take photos. The Palermo Markets in Plaza Armenia and Plaza Serrano are weekly outdoor markets located in the trendy neighborhood of Palermo. They take place every Saturday & Sunday, and are a great place to find a variety of handmade crafts and artisanal goods. They are a great place to explore the local culture and to find unique and high-quality products. The market in Plaza Serrano goes around the circle of the plaza, slightly extending into side streets.

San Telmo

Plaza Dorrego
@nicki
This is a plaza in the heart of San Telmo, but it's also the main plaza for the Sunday market of San Telmo. The market stretches out several blocks from Plaza Dorrego all along Calle Defensa, and several other side streets. The entire market is alive with energy, visitors, and street performers. At the market you can find anything from equipment for mate, homemade knives, band T-shirts, paintings, vintage clothing, antiques, etc. This is the absolute best place to be on a Sunday.

San Telmo market
@nicki
This market is on the newer side, in one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. There are a ton of eating options here, including my personal favorite- Hierro Parrilla San Telmo- an asado restaurant. However, you can also buy veggies here, in addition to homemade empanadas, alfajores, pasta, and even antiques. It's definitely worth a stop, and a few meals.

I have been traveling the world for 20 years, and I want to help you do the same. I am originally from Colorado, though I took off as soon as I graduated from university. Since then I have lived in ten countries and traveled through dozens more. I have learned languages, tried several new foods, walked across Spain, trained across Russia, worked on farms, and in pubs, taught English, and anything else that allowed me to keep going. My life motto is to be fearless and I try to live up to that every day. I’m currently traveling around Tunisia. I spent an entire year traveling around Argentina so I know it quite well. I want to help you discover what makes this country incredible as well! Shop my Argentina travel guides: https://share.thatch.co/Cijz I offer travel consultations too! Book here: https://nickipoststravelstuff.com/contact/ “Wow. Nicki is super knowledgeable about Argentina and actually travel in general. We discussed everything from general safety to the cost of renting an apartment long-term. My biggest takeaway was her ideas for using social media as a resource for learning about the people from the people. Great idea. Real nice gal too.” -Ray “Nicki’s consultation was amazing. She is extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions and concerns with ease and intelligence. She’s definitely someone to talk to before you visit or relocate to Buenos Aires or other locations in Argentina.” -Paul “My family and I are about to embark on a 3 month trip through Argentina, we had been binge watching youtube videos from Nicki so we scheduled a call to dive deeper. Nicki helped give feedback to our itinerary and gave great local perspective from cell phones to don’t miss desserts. It was super beneficial to get the added insight.“ -Andi
