Brazil Weekend

*Be aware these prices are heightened due to it being Carnaval Week in Brazil

We only used Uber the entire trip (other than tour transportation)

*Be aware of taxi scams (Several taxi drivers stopped us at the airport to tell us uber is dangerous because they take you through the “favelas”. We ultimately decided to ride Uber and felt safe the entire time.

3 Days/2 Nights - I recommend to spend 4 Days/ 3 nights in Brazil if possible.

*We booked 1 month out causing hotels & flights to be sold out/ limited (Book as early as you can)

To save the most time for a weekend vacation, I recommend getting one way flights (10 hours one way)

Land in Rio’s international airport for best prices

Stay on the hotel strip of Copacabana beach. It’s a central location with lots of tourist around. Hotels are more expensive in this area, but it felt very safe.

Our first option was Hilton Copacabana which unfortunately sold out before we could reserve. 

We used our Brazilian Real for eating out, souviners, and small local food stands.

We did most of our souviner shopping in stands next to Copacabana beach (cash only)

*The uber app has the option to pay in cash. ONLY PAY WITH CARD. We had an uber driver claim we left without paying when we used the cash option. Uber charged our card later for the “missing money”. 

Arrive in the morning (We arrived to the hotel around 7am, ate breakfast, and stored our bags,)
