Every trip to NYC can be completely different. See below for all the things we did and ate in a short day trip to the city after arriving to Penn Station.

They are known for bagels and also have mini gluten free bagels too! We picked some up and had a small picnic over on the High Line a few blocks away via 23rd street.

If we had the time we would have walked the whole High Line round trip to visit the Starbucks Reserve, but not on this trip. Walking just part of the High Line is magical already. I much prefer it to Central Park, actually.

One of the most photographed new sights in NYC is Hudson Yards. Be sure to make a reservation for the Edge in advance. We went at 2:40pm and stayed long enough to almost catch the sunset! There is also a multi level mall - from designer to fast fashion. Great for window shopping since they design custom window fronts during the holidays. There's something for everyone at this mall.

The view at the top of the Edge is magical. It's 360 degree view. It's amazing thst you are out in the open like this. The sitting area must have heated seats because it was so cozy just sitting up there and enjoying the view. There's lots of angles for photos and you could even grab a drink at the bar. The price is high but now going up there and experiencing it, it was well worth it!

We often catch a cab between spots but on this day, we were able to walk everywhere! It was starting to get dark and we walked over to Bryant Park. Lots of places to stop at along the way. During the holidays, Bryant Park turns into a Winter Village with kiosks, food stalls and ice rink. Highly recommend! The kiosks were filled with quite unique items you wouldn't see many other places. You could even stop by and do some ice skating

Right next to Bryant Park is Grand Central Station. I have been coming to NYC for over twenty years and can't believe I've never been. The architecture is magnificent. We just stood and stared at the ceiling for a while in the main hall.

If you want a cocktail in a fancy bar, consider making reservations at The Campbell. It's an adventure in itself to find this gorgeous bar inside Grand Central. An evening time will be super busy and load so I wish we picked up an earlier reservation. The drinks were nice and strong though!

From there, it's not too far to Rockefeller Center to see the tree. And a few blocks more is Times Square to soak up all that NYC has to offer.

If you are ever in a pickle looking for a gluten free dining option, search for a Friedmans location. They are all over the city!! Most take walk ins. The whole menu is or can be made gluten free, almost. We made reservations in the Theatre District for a nicer ambience.

If you have any energy left, you can catch a show on Broadway. There is something for everyone. Alas, we hurried over to catch the next train.
