What people say

"Tucked between towering modern architectural monuments of Rotterdam is the comparatively diminutive Hotel New York. Beginning in 1901, the building housed the headquarters for the Holland-American Line, which transported nearly two million Dutch emigrants across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States from the late-nineteenth to mid-twentieth century. Amazingly, the building survived the extensive bombing of the city of Rotterdam during World War II. In 1977, the cruise line relocated their headquarters to Seattle. The former office building has been transformed to a boutique hotel experience, paying homage to its history through the maritime architectural and interior design choices throughout. Artwork and artifacts from the Holland-America Line days are displayed on each floor of the building. Each guest room is unique. Amenities include an on site cafe restaurant and oyster bar, high ceilings, waterfront views, and bathtubs in select rooms."
"Not just a hotel, it's a Rotterdam icon. This used to be the HQ for the Holland-America line when a huge amount of Dutch moved to the USA after WWII. Now, it's a hotel, but the park in front of it is just as spectacular. "
