"This trail is full of historic sites making it not only fun and beautiful, but educational. At several points you will catch views of the Breckenridge ski area and surrounding mountains.
This loop starts as a walk through the woods, leading to the ruins of the Reiling Dredge which sits atop a small pond. This site was instrumental in the gold mining period of the area’s history, and lots of interpretive signage will teach you about what happened here. You’ll pass an overlook, but can also travel down and explore the ruins up close (Note: Do NOT let your dog play in the water here). From there, you’ll cross a road, then ascend to the ruins of Minnie Mine, with several crumbling structures and interpretive signs. After encountering the mine, you’ll loop back down through the woods, to the parking lot.
This is a popular area year-round, but we love visiting in the fall. The historic ruins surrounded by yellow-gold aspen leaves cast a particularly magical hue on the area!
