"The Puerta de la Cijara is located on Calle Marqués de Salvatierra and forms part of the eastern flank of the Ronda urban wall, which is located in the town of the same name, in the province of Malaga.
Due to its geographical characteristics, Ronda has always been a strategic enclave, reaching its largest walled configuration during the period of Arab domination. The limits of the Muslim medina were the Guadalevín gorge to the north and the city walls to the south, east and west.
The Ronda wall complex called the Levante walls is the most important of the city walls; it is located in the eastern sector and is made up of a double defensive line: the Levante or Cijara wall and further out the First Defensive Line. They housed the suburbs, where the Arab Baths were located. At the northern end of its layout stands the Puerta de la Cijara."
