"Navigating your way through the hidden entrance of The Grass Skirt, tucked behind the unsuspecting freezer of the Good Time Poke Shop, you're transported from Pacific Beach, San Diego, into a lush tropical hideaway. This beloved locale, frequented by both residents and tourists, wraps you in an inviting atmosphere brimming with bamboo adornments, palm trees, and Polynesian artistry, bringing to life a vibrant paradise. The Grass Skirt stands out not just for its immersive ambiance but also for its inventive cocktails and delectable Polynesian-inspired food. Its cocktail curation, an enticing mix of classic tiki beverages and original creations, is a testament to the flair and expertise of their mixologists. High-quality ingredients mingle in these imaginative concoctions, resulting in beautiful presentations that are a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate. Their food selection is an homage to Polynesian flavors, with dishes such as poke bowls, dumplings, and skewers gracing the menu. Each dish, prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients, offers an affordable exploration of the exotic cuisine. Some standout items include the Puka Bowl ā€“ a delightfully fresh combination of tuna, salmon, avocado, and cucumber, the pan-fried dumplings with an option of pork, shrimp, or vegetable fillings, Hawaiian-style tacos with varied protein options, and the tropical fruit punch spiked with rum. The vivacious ambiance is complemented by an amicable and informed staff, ever ready to guide you towards the perfect cocktail or dish, whether you're in for a relaxed meal with friends or a lively group night out. It is recommended, given its popularity, especially on weekends, to secure your tropical escape in advance through online or phone reservations. It's also worth noting that The Grass Skirt shares its secret-speakeasy charm with a sibling, Captain's Quarters. Located within the same premises, this nautical-themed counterpart serves up an assortment of classic cocktails for those preferring to navigate a different experiential course. In essence, The Grass Skirt is a must-visit destination for those seeking a creative cocktail, a delicious meal, and an atmosphere teeming with tropical allure. Its fresh, flavorful food, visually appealing cocktails, and festive ambiance together concoct an experience I highly recommend exploring."

"This will always be my favorite tiki speakeasy! It's larger than other speakeasies, making it the perfect place to chill with a larger group. They have comfortable swingy chairs too! It can be either a date spot or a hangout spot. They've got a decent food menu with fun items like okonomiyaki fries and the smokey eggplant dip is amazing! I like all of the drinks here and of course they have punch bowls šŸ˜ with fun drinks they light on fire too!"

"This place isn't outwardly labeled as a speakeasy, so you may have trouble finding the entrance if you're unaware. The entry will be in a lit shop next door. It's not really labeled and looked like you're entering into pickup food shop. They take you straight through the "freezer door" into the bar! "
