What people say

"580 metres high, Cabo Girão is the highest promontory in Europe. But that is not the only reason why it is becoming increasingly famous all over the world. The Cabo Girão viewpoint, with its famous suspended glass platform - called skywalk - is currently one of the most visited (and certainly most photographed) tourist attractions of the archipelago. The Cabo Girão viewpoint offers a unique perspective over the cities of Câmara de Lobos and Funchal: an urban scenery framed by a natural amphitheatre facing south. In the background, it is possible to see Fajã do Rancho and Fajã do Cabo Girão, which stand out for the small areas of cultivated land at the foot of the cliffs. This large coastal cliff is also an excellent place for paragliding and BASE jumping (it was even chosen by Portuguese parachutist Mário Pardo for his famous motorbike jump). In addition, near the Cabo Girão viewpoint you can find one of the island's main pilgrimage sites: the chapel of Nossa Senhora de Fátima (Our Lady of Fátima), which dates back to 1951. There are plenty of reasons to visit this ex-libris of Madeira."
