Lee Walker
"Tozeur is small desert town that has been inhabited for 8000 years. Because of the oasis it was founded in, it was an important Roman (called "Tusuros") and Berber outpost. It was a crucial stopping point for their trade caravans moving through the Sahara desert.
A rugged but inviting town with a lot of heart and the friendliest people. It's used as a base for many tours around the area, with one of the biggest attractions being the sets used for the filming of "Star Wars". Also, make sure to check out the beautiful stone work that was used to build the old medina.
If antiques are of any interest, the stores here are incredible. Beautiful rugs, vases and items from across North Africa and the middle east. "
