What people say

"Cammillo is a woman-led restaurant that was founded by a Bolognese man with an eye for business in 1945, back when most of the "Oltrarno" ["across the Arno river"] neighborhood was still an impoverished and half-destroyed part of Florence. Cammillo helped bring people across the bridge thanks to their delicious foods and now, decades later, it's one of Florence's best restaurants, with perfectly ironed white tablecloths, and elegant and kind waiters that have been there for decades. Fun fact: you might have seen a viral TikTok of waiters "finding boyfriends" for a group of young foreign travelers — this is the spot! The extensive menu features both Florentine and Bolognese classics and is printed daily on an old typewriter. If available, enjoy: - Florentine-style chicken or shrimp curry with rice; - homemade tortellini in broth (a traditional Bolognese dish); - tagliolini with snail ragù; - baked round zucchini stuffed with ground beef; - potato ravioli with pigeon meat ragù; - artichoke omelette; - deep fried veal brain with zucchini blossoms; - rosemary roast lamb with mashed potatoes; - sauteed chicken livers with white beans; - Florentine-style tripe; - Florentine-style steak ("bistecca"); - vinsanto gelato with "cantucci" (biscotti) crumble; - when in season, their world-famous persimmon tiramisu. Since it's one of the best restaurants in the city, you must book well in advance. "

"With a genuine taste of Tuscan home cooking and a welcoming, rustic interior it feels like stepping into a local’s dining room. In autumn, don’t miss their hearty ribollita, a traditional Tuscan soup made with seasonal vegetables. Also, try the tortellini with fresh cream or broth for a authentic, flavorful dish."

" Just over the river in Florence ‘a Santo spirito neighborhood, this restaurant has been open and going strong since 1945. Their menu includes traditional dishes like Ribollita, but don’t miss the seasonal specials, like persimmon tiramisu in autumn and whatever ‘special of the day’ pasta dish is available. "
