Duke's Nose

"Absolutely spectacular viewpoint!! The track is wonderful and leads through the forest with its stunning landscape and lush green plants. You have to cross the river twice and at some point you will reach the bay. The path leads along the bay and offers beautiful views. The water is emerald green and will instantly catch your attention. An intriguing sight. There's some small houses/shacks scattered along the coastline that make you want to stay overnight in that peaceful place. The last part of the walk leads uphill and then you reach the tricky part of the track. You have to literally climb the rock the last bit. Handrails help to support you though. Once you reach the top you will be left speechless. The view exceeded everything I was imagining. On the one side (where you climb up) there is the bay with the emerald green water and mountains jutting out of the water which reminded me a lot of Asia. On the other side the water is blue and you have a vast view over the islands. In total the walk took us about 5 hours (we stayed about 1,5 hours at the top). Highly recommendable!"

"Beautiful forest walk with a couple of small river crossing and towards the end a short climb up a rock (a pole is provided) to the most incredible views over the bays. Take a dip in the water and sleep at the DOC hut provided and stargaze is always a must-do for us each year. The start of the track is up a little driveway, dont worry you're in the right place!"

" One of my absolute favorite views in all of New Zealand. It's a hefty hike with kids (about 3.5 miles/7km and 1700ft/550m one way to the top. Best done on an overnight to Lane Cove Hut or you can schedule a ferry out.  "
