Welcome to the Atlantic side ! Portugal is located in the south of France, next to Spain, and on the contrary is open to the Atlantic ocean and not the Mediterranean sea! The beaches are still beautiful, and cities like Porto or Lisbon have the advantage of being "inside" the country. They both have an inside sea, for city trips, but also a part located at the ocean for more "beachy" holidays. Then again, the most beautiful beaches would be in the south, in the Algarve region :)

Oporto stuns with its soul. Terracotta rooftops cascading down colorful hills, each house a unique hue. Wander cobbled streets bathed in golden sunlight, This is definitely Portugals gem, a must-visit on Europe's Atlantic coast.

São Bento Station

Start your morning at this marvellous railway station in its intricate azulejo tiles depicting Portugal's history.  
The station is really picturesque. 
 You can buy the train tickets online or in the station. 

The Sao Bento Railway station is worth a visit to see the tile work inside that gives a history of the railroad in one sequence of tiles along the top and then shows major events in Porto's history.

Sao Bento Train Station dazzles with its beautiful azulejo tile panels depicting Portugal's history. This architectural gem is a working station and a cultural landmark worth visiting.

Note: it can get quite busy here during the day, so visit in the morning or later in the day to avoid the crowds

One of the most beautiful train stations in Europe. Twenty-two thousand hand-painted tiles by artist Jorge Colaço grace the walls and ceiling, and it is simply glorious. 

This is probably the most beautiful train station in Portugal (at least in my opinion).
You probably want to come here early (before 10am) to avoid the tour crowds.
