A little over 10 years ago, Franco Pepe, after years of working in his family’s pizzeria in Caiazzo decided to open up his own place not more that 200 meters away in, a then, sleepy historic center. A lot has happened since then- the city center has grown as well as a huge spotlight aimed at the territory that Pepe has always held close to his heart. I say experience, because besides his pizzas which are very…very good – check out the Margherita Sbagliata, La Scarpetta, the fried pizza cone Ciro to name a few. Over the past 10 years, Franco has added 3 different types of tasting rooms and even a couple of rooms if you’d like to spend the night. Check out Authentica- the world’s smallest pizzeria which can be reserved for a party of 10 and features its own pizza oven AND you have the opportunity to hang out and chat about pizza as Franco Pepe prepares pizzas for you and your group. I don’t know of any other pizzerias in the area that offer that service. The website is also in English as well as some members on the dining room staff speak English as well. Let’s talk about details-surely you’ve heard stories about it being nearly impossible to book a table. Well, it is not easy, but if you plan ahead and are willing to eat at 630 pm when the pizzeria opens, then yes, you can! Dai un'occhiata ad Authentica, la pizzeria più piccola del mondo che può essere prenotata per uun evento o serata per 10 persone e dispone del proprio forno per pizza. Hai anche l'opportunità di chiacchierare con Franco Pepe mentre lui prepara le pizze per te e il tuo gruppo. Non conosco altre pizzerie della zona che offrano quel servizio. Il sito web è anche in inglese e alcuni membri del personale della sala da pranzo parlano anche inglese. Parliamo di dettagli: sicuramente hai sentito storie sul fatto che sia quasi impossibile prenotare un tavolo. Beh, non è facile, ma se pianifichi in anticipo e sei disposto a mangiare alle 1830 quando apre la pizzeria, allora sì, puoi! "

"Need to make reservations well in advance. Even with reservations you will have to wait outside for them to call your name, meaning there is a bit of a wait. Better to reserve as soon as they open rather than later. Renowned for their pizza chef, Pepe in Granì uses excellent ingredients including a number of Slow Food Presidium ingredients. Recommend the Il Sole Nel Piatto pizza if looking for something other than the classic, it uses all local flavours and ingredients. Don’t skip out on the appetisers! Aim for beer over wine as my honest opinion is the wine list is to expensive. For after dinner though try a glass of Falernum, this is the ancient Roman sweet wine still in production!"
