"The Arch of Galerius, commonly known as "Kamara," stands as one of Thessaloniki's most distinctive and captivating Roman structures.
A prominent destination for both locals and tourists, alongside the White Tower, this architectural gem was erected to honor the triumphant return of Roman Emperor Galerius to Thessaloniki around 306 AD following victorious wars against the Persians.
Originally featuring eight pillars forming a triple arch adorned with sculptural reliefs, the structure now preserves three pillars and remnants of its original form.
Notably, the marble sculptures on the flanking pillars vividly depict Roman soldiers engaged in combat against the Persians, offering a glimpse into ancient history."

"Also known as Kamara, this is one of the most famous sights in Thessaloniki. If you love Roman architecture, you will be amazed by this monumental arch standing casually in the middle of the city.
Built in the 4th century A.D. it was designed to celebrate the victory of Galerius over the Sassanid Persians.
Remember to have a closer look at the marble panels on each pillar depicting scenes from the past such as the wars of Galerius against the Persians.
It's free to visit. "

" The Arch of Galerius was erected in the 4th century AD to celebrate the victory of Roman Emperor Galerius over the Persians. It's humorously noted among locals that despite its historical significance, today it serves as a popular meeting point for students, often heard with the phrase, "Let's meet at Kamara!""
