Nestled in the South West of France, the city of Bordeaux, has been named one of Europe's best destinations - and it's easy to see why! Bordeaux showcases the best that France has to offer: world renowned food and wine heritage, a growing art and design scene, a stunning historical centre and all just a short trip from the beautiful vineyards and countryside. The city centre is registered as the largest urban UNESCO world heritage site in the world. I have been lucky enough to call Bordeaux my home - on and off - for the last 10 years. Below are 7 things I love to do in my city that will guarantee you make the most of your time here. In the last few years, I've spent over 5 months in France. My situation is unique because my boyfriend is French, so I often get to explore areas of the country that other travelers might not think to visit. Paris is certainly worth experiencing, but the rest of France has so much to offer, too! Spanning as far north as Lille and as far south as Bordeaux, this guide will give you everything you need to experience some of the best areas of France, outside of its capital. The best part? I don't plan to stop exploring France anytime soon! I will continue to update this guide with new places as I visit them myself. This is an itinerary I made with my family, we did a lot of places in a short period of time, you can definitively stay longer in some places, or do just one part of it ( for example only Galicia , Cantabria & Asturias; or only Pais Vasco ) The only place I would skip in this itinerary is Vigo, the rest of them are incredibly nice. Orense is nothing special but the Canyon is worth visiting.
