Josefina Ginevra
Lives in Geneva, Suiza
Hello, I'm Josefina, an Argentinian now living in Geneva, Switzerland (fun fact: my last name is Ginevra, which is the translation to Geneva in Italian). My journey from a career in psychology to becoming a travel planner has been quite an adventure, just like the trips I craft. When I relocated to Geneva with my husband, I faced the challenge of finding a job in a new country with a different language. This shift in my life opened the door to another passion of mine: travel. Throughout my time in Europe, I've explored well-known destinations and uncovered hidden gems, many of which are right here in this beautiful country I now call home. Travel has always held a special place in my heart. Even as a teenager, I enjoyed creating travel plans, but I never realized it could become more than just a hobby. It was the feedback from my trips with family and friends that inspired me. They marveled at how well everything was organized, from hotel choices to dining experiences and the unique places we visited. Their encouragement led me to consider a career in travel planning, but I wasn't sure how to make it happen until I discovered this platform. Thanks to Thatch, I'm now pursuing my dreams by crafting comprehensive guides and itineraries and offering my services as a travel planner. I invite you to explore my guides and see how I work. If you ever desire a personalized Eurotrip plan, don't hesitate to reach out. I'll plan your journey as if it were my own, taking into account your preferences, budget, and needs. Let's transform your travel dreams into reality!

Nestled in the heart of France, Lyon is known as the country's culinary capital. This city brims with life and a wealth of attractions waiting to be explored. While it ranks among France's most significant urban centers, two days are often sufficient to take in its many offerings. Lyon's unique charm stems from being traversed by two winding rivers, which bestow upon it a distinct allure. Multiple bridges gracefully connect the city's three main districts: the historic Old Town (Vieux Lyon), the peninsula known as Presqu'île, and the riverbanks on the right bank of the Rhône. For a short stay, it's advisable to choose accommodations as centrally located as possible, ensuring easy access to the city's primary points of interest. While Lyon is mostly walkable, do keep in mind that it encompasses several hilly areas, particularly the Fourvière Hill. For those less inclined to undertake the uphill journey on foot, there's a cable car service available to ascend the heights. Should you wish to extend your journey, Lyon harmoniously pairs with other destinations such as Paris, Dijon (and the Burgundy region), Geneva, and Annecy. Dive into this vibrant city where culinary expertise meets rich heritage, this city is a captivating blend of historical landmarks, vibrant neighborhoods, and a thriving cultural scene. Please note that I'm offering this guide for free, so any tip is appreciated. Another way to support my work is by booking your accommodation via this guide, there's no extra cost for you and helps me a lot to continue creating guides like this. If you are interested in making a trip combining some other interesting cities in France, give me a call I can certainly help you plan it.

Old Lyon (Vieux Lyon)
Old Lyon, also known as Vieux Lyon, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the city's most iconic neighborhoods. Stepping into the narrow cobbled streets of Old Lyon feels like stepping back in time. The neighborhood is characterized by its Renaissance architecture, with colorful buildings adorned with intricate details. Explore the traboules, hidden passageways between buildings, and visit Saint-Jean Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic architecture.
Fourvière Hill
Sitting atop Fourvière Hill is the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, a striking symbol of Lyon. The basilica offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. Take a funicular ride up to Fourvière Hill and spend some time exploring the beautiful gardens surrounding the basilica. Don't miss the nearby Roman Amphitheater, which offers a glimpse into Lyon's ancient past.
Presqu'île
Located between the Rhône and Saône rivers, Presqu'île is Lyon's vibrant city center. Stroll along Rue de la République, Lyon's main shopping street, and discover a variety of boutiques, department stores, and restaurants. Place Bellecour, one of Europe's largest squares, is a must-visit, with its majestic statue of Louis XIV and ample green spaces perfect for relaxing.
Croix-Rousse
Croix-Rousse is a historically significant neighborhood that was once home to Lyon's thriving silk industry. Known as "La Colline qui travaille" (the hill that works), Croix-Rousse boasts a unique atmosphere with its steep streets, lively markets, and colorful murals. Explore the traboules of Croix-Rousse, which were once used by silk workers for transportation. Don't forget to visit the Maison des Canuts, a museum dedicated to Lyon's silk weaving heritage.
Parc de la Tête d'Or

Spanning over 100 hectares, the park offers a peaceful retreat with its picturesque lake, rose gardens, and vast green spaces. Visit the free zoo, which is home to various animals, including giraffes, elephants, and lions. You can also rent a boat and enjoy a leisurely paddle on the lake.
Confluence District
Once an industrial wasteland, the Confluence district has been revitalized into a modern architectural hub.
