Why Baja California Sur?

Main reasons to visit Baja California Sur

- Amazing beaches and landscapes

- Very good food

- There are a lot of activities with wild sea life available (depending on the season)

- There are also beautiful towns to visit

Stop 1 - La Paz

La Paz is a very nice town, it has a boardwalk in front of the sea with stunning sunset views. In addition, the town is full of nice restaurants and coffee shops, it has a lot of night life but it is still very calm.

From there you can visit some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico, like Balandra Beach, and swim with sea lions 🦭 or whales 🐋.

I recommend you stay at least 3 entire days.

For additional information about what to do in La Paz, you can check this map 👇

Stop 2 - Todos Santos

Todos Santos is the home of the famous Hotel California from the Red Hot Chili Peppers song.

In addition to being famous because of the song, it is a small and picturesque colonial town. It is full of Mexican art and crafts. There are also some nice hotels and villas around and it's perfect for surf lovers.

I recommend staying here for 2 days and enjoying the environment, the town and the beaches.

Stop 3 - Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas is one of the most famous Cabos in Baja California Sur. The beaches are really beautiful and you can visit also the Cabo San Lucas Arch from there.

Unfortunately, this city receives a lot of tourists who are interested in parties, therefore, the city per se isn't anything special, it is very noisy and super expensive.

Then, if you want to visit the Arch, I will recommend staying there for just 1 day/night and then continuing the trip.

If you don't mind visiting the Arch you can skip the city.

If you like to party and this kind of tourism, then you can spend more days there.

Stop 4 - San José del Cabo

This is the last stop in the trip.

Cabo San Juan is really nice. It is full of nice beaches around, usually, they have big waves but still is possible to swim.

My recommendation is to pick accommodation close to the beaches rather than one in the city center.

Also, there are a lot of hotels and villas around, you can check them if you want to spend a whole relaxing week there!

I recommend staying there for around 2 days to enjoy the beaches and restaurants around. And I will recommend one more day there if you take the bonus 👇

Bonus - Cabo Pulmo National Park

If you like sea life, snorkeling, and/or scuba diving I strongly recommend visiting this park. It is an amazing spot, you will find a lot of different fish species.

You can go there by car from San José del Cabo and once there you can hire a tour to go snorkeling or to do scuba diving. If you prefer, you can stay one night there.

Additional information

- Rent a car to be able to freely move across towns and visit the beaches around

- The itinerary is flexible, so you can move the starting point depending on where you arrive

- You can arrive there by flight from Mexico DF to La Paz or Los Cabos. There are more international flights to Los Cabos than to La Paz

- Be mindful that if you return the car to a different location you will be charged an extra cost
