Ischia
Italy
A magical island located in the Bay of Naples. Found it to be a very authentic holiday destination, not overrun with tourists or traps catering to them, as it’s a popular spot with Neapolitans. Low-key, and known as a wellness destination for it’s all natural hotsprings. Read on for recommendations…

Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa
If I could spend 3 months at Mezzatorre every summer, I would. I'm obsessed with this hotel group (Pelicano Hotels) and the woman who runs it. The spa was amazing. The gift shop is perfect. The staff was so warm and friendly and lovely (deveryone was greeting us by our first names all over the place which made us feel special). The property is beautiful and unpretentious. The food was excellent. The drinks are delightful. The guests were all super chic and fashionable.

La Vigna Di Alberto
Must visit. You pull up to a gate in a residential neighborhood, ring the bell, and end up in the backyard of a home/restaurant. It was beautiful and the food was really delicious. Alberto, the owner, gave us a bottle of wine. One of my favorite meals of the trip.

Trattoria Il Focolare
This family run restaurant is on Stanley Tucci's show. It's worth the hype. We tried the rabbit. Our waitress was the chef's sister (she's on the show) and we told her we heard about the restaurant on Tucci's show and she was THRILLED and brought us back to meet the chef. She also gave us t-shirts!

Baia di Sorgeto Ischia
This is the hot spring we went to. You can rent chairs for like 10 euros. Bring flip flops or water shoes. Don't casually dip a toe in any pools of water you see that people aren't sitting in. We saw someone literally boil their foot.

Sant'Angelo
Town with cute cafes, beautiful view and good shopping. Took the SmartCar here from the hotel during our 6ish hour excursion around the island.

do
Castello Aragonese d'Ischia
View is epic, otherwise underwhelming.
Found a little sandwich shop (that had hanging garlic and tomatoes in the window and a giant pig sculpture outside; across from a bakery or gelato shop) on the main drag in Ischia (the town and island itself have the same name) where I had the best sandwich of my life at.
