Best Puffin Places

There is small booth that you could hide in and watch them or you can walk around on designated platforms and look at this beautiful birds.

There is a lot of places in Iceland that you could see Atlantic Puffins. Of course if you are in Iceland during puffin season which is from mid-april Until mid August.

If we are saying about tours - this is one very special - you will be taken into hay trailer connected to a tractor and then taken to cap in middle of black beach. Latrabjarg is considered biggest colony in Iceland However due to difficult access because of the cliffs you dont see the scale of it. Still it is great spot to see puffins if you are in Westfjords. You will also see lots of Auks and Seagulls

Although it is called Beluga Whale Sanctuary - this is place where all broken and hurt puffins are recovering So you Can see them Here sometimes even in winter if they were not able to fly to the sea

 Lots of tourists are going only Up to Jokusarlon - So now where to see Puffins without tour ?

Here are my recommendation based on my experience, and few spots extra that i still didn't check.

You will not get closer then this and I don't think there is other spot where is so many of them

On this edge of town Borgafjordur Eystri there is hill in the harbor that is one big apartment block for puffin families.

I've heard many stories about puffins there and I know that the area is closed in the evenings in mating season but personally - I never saw one puffin there.

Puffins | Drangey Tours | Sauðárkrókur

Very beautiful hike and at the end of it there is small island very close to the land with lots of puffins. If you have binoculars or lens at least 200mm its worth it if you have time and you are in the area.

Even just for the hike. Tip: Take water there absoulutely no stream on this hike.
