Winery in Monferrato who highlights the excellence of Freisa and A local Malvasia.
This winery is family run and managed, and a real local favourite.
You can stop by for a tasting or glass, they are open all weekend. No need to reserve, they have a very open and welcoming staff!

One of my favorite producers of the Langhe, the two Francone brothers produce high quality sustainable wines in Neive, one of the main towns of Barbaresco appellation.
I love their Barbera Superiore, but they are most prized for their various Barbaresco crus.
You can opt for two different style tastings here and it is a wonderful experience!

An excellent family winery right in Barbaresco producing the Nebbiolo royalty of Barbaresco and Barolo, plus Barbera and Chardonnay.
The family has been here for generations and is so happy to share a taste of their various vintages!

Vietti Azienda Agricola / Winery

Vietti is one of my all time favorite wine producers and they offer a great tasting experience.
Today they lean on the commercial side, being more widely available, and technically owned by a foreign company. They are however still managed by the family on site and every one of their wines is worth a try.
They are one of the producers who was responsible for bringing back Arneis!
But if you are a red wine lover their Nebbiolo PerBacco never disappoints!

The spot to go to taste one of the most overlooked wines of Piedmont-Ruche!
This is a juicy fruity red wine that has a hidden high alcohol %, it used to only be produced in quantities big enough for family consumption, now it’s growing in popularity!

Tenuta La Tenaglia Srl

You might not expect it but this is the oldest running winery in Piedmont!
Open since the 1400s it has changed hands a number of times, today owned by a German family.
However what is really unique about them is they are also the only winery doing Aged Grignolino.
Grignolino is a wine typically drunk young, but when they found records that the Savoy family referred to aged versions in the cellar, they decided to experiment. The result is delicious. Head there to try it for yourself.

Borgogno is the best solution for an easy tasting in the Langhe. Find their tasting spot right in the center of Barolo, take a tour of their cellar or sit in the courtyard for a delicious tasting.
I highly recommend trying their Barolo Chinato!

Today they have multiple Cellars and vineyars, you can visit most of them, and book a tour and tasting!

For wines from the Colli Euganei region of Veneto, here you can taste some eccellente native varieties plus great Merlot and Cabernet.
Not far from Padova and Vicenza so a great quick trip if you happen to be at the Vicenza base!

Novacella Abbey

A monastery founded in the 1000s, they have been producing wine since 1142. This a gorgeous stop to explore on your way deeper into the Dolomites. On your visit you can also explore their museum and historic gardens.
If you want to sit for a glass and bite to eat, sit at the Cantina right in front of the ticket office. Instead if you want to taste their range of wines, head to the Enoteca by the parking lot.

Located in Trentino's wine-making haven of Mezzacorona, Martinelli focuses largely on the prince of the region - Teroldego! While I love this red wine, I also found that the cantina's Chardonnay was excellent.

A family-run vineyard near Florence, producing traditional organic wines, plus something a little special - their own orange wine. Oh, and you won’t want to miss a taste of their very own extra-virgin olive oil.
Tastings are led by the latest generation of the family in their garden overlooking the vines and olive groves. These tastings include a sip of their own products, paired perfectly with other local flavors.

Le Fonti has been in the hands of the Schmitt-Vitali family since 1994, when every vine was replanted, taking great care to select the right type of plants with the correct rootstock.
The vineyards are farmed sustainably to save the integrity of the environment. They're certified organic through ICEA organization."

Impressive Vineyards and views. This winery practices "heroic" wine making, that is they tend to vines in difficult conditions built up along the cliffs of Furore.
The ageing cellars are built directly into the cliff.
