Wine Windows of Florence
Buchette di Vino or wine windows are famous around Florence. They are little windows that have been used for hundreds of years to sell wine in a fiasco (glass bottle) without having to open a shop and avoid paying taxes.
These wine windows also were used to sell wine during the epidemic of 1630-1633, without direct contact between client and seller during the Bubonic Plague. And more recently, during the days of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. When restaurants, bars, and gelateria began reusing these ancient buchette del vino to sell their products, just like 400 years ago.

When in Venice, you must eat Cicchetti! These include a range of small finger foods like crostini or small pieces of bread topped with different items, like fresh fish or cheese, (similar to an open faced mini sandwich), polpette (fried meatballs), or even an array of pickled vegetables. It all depends on the wine bar, or bà caro you go to, but the dishes tend to be unique and creative.Â
